ESTABLISHMENT OF THE NATIONAL REFERENCE FOOD TESTING LABORATORY

The Gambia Standards Bureau and the Committee for establishment of the National Reference Food Testing Labouratory conducted an onsite visit of the facility which is situated in Abuko. The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment funded the construction of the complex whiles West Africa Competitiveness Program (WACOMP) supported in providing equipment & capacity building, technical and financial support for accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
The lab once fully operational, will solve the food testing needs of exporters, importers as well as food processors in the the country.
The team led by the Director General of The Gambia Standards Bureau also proceeded to the National Metrology Laboratory and the National Lighting Testing Laboratory.
