The Gambia Standards Bureau with its partners last week Friday inaugurated the National Lighting Testing Laboratory at its National Quality Center in Abuko. The construction of the facility was funded by TGSB and The Gambia government, installation of equipment and associated trainings were funded by the UNIDO GEF 6 project under the Quality Assurance component.
The Laboratory’s state-of-the-art equipment are capable of conducting quality test, energy efficiency test among series of other tests of a variety of lighting products including residential lamps, industrial and street lights and many other types.
The Beauty and benefits of light testing include: electrical safety information, environmental & energy efficiency performance, durability & reliability information, thermal Performance, color properties & Luminous efficiency amongst others.
In attendance were officials from UNIDO, ECREEE, ECOWAS commission, Ministry of Petroleum & Energy, Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment and all key stakeholders of the Bureau including the media fraternity
