The Gambia Standards Bureau through the support of it line Ministry organised an information sharing workshop for cement importers across the country on two key cement standards.
In delivering his opening statement on behalf of the permanent secretary at the ministry of Trade, Regional Integration and Employment Mr. Gaye, stressed the importance of todays gathering. He indicated that his Ministry is working tireless with the Gambia Standards Bureau and other relevant key stakeholders to ensure that imported cement into the country conform to quality requirements as per the standards . " The Ministry of Trade is working with TGSB and all other relevant stakeholders in ensuring that personnel of the Gambia Standards Bureau are placed at boarder posts to ensure that cement imports meet quality specifications through testing before they are allowed into the country. He pointed out the need to support and enhance the growth of our local cement dealers to enable them compete meaningfully at the international stage by being committed to meeting the standard specifications.

Preceding Mr. Gaye's opening statement was the background information on The Gambia Standards Bureau by Mr. Ebrima Musa Jallow Director of Standardization at TGSB who doubles as the moderator of the event.
In introducing the two cement standards, Mr. Modou Dumbuya a Senior Standards Officer gave a comprehensive presentations on the specifications of the two standards. This was followed by question and answer session.
