The Gambia Science Week 2025
The Gambia Standards Bureau (TGSB) was honored to participate in the University of The Gambia Science Students’ Association (UTG-SSA) Science Week 2025, under the theme:
“Advancing National Development Through Scientific Research, Innovation, and Practical Knowledge; Empowering the Next Generation in STEM and Fostering Sustainable Environmental Stewardship.”
Tuesday, 28th October 2025, was dedicated to the Gambia Standards Bureau in recognition of its vital role in promoting Quality Assurance, Standardization, and Industrial Development in The Gambia.
On this day, the Bureau conducted a presentation on its mandate, operations, and contribution to national development through standardization, metrology, and conformity assessment. The presentation was delivered by Amadou G Jallow, Yusupha Jallow and Mutarr Seckan who highlighted the significance of standards in ensuring product safety, enhancing innovation, and supporting sustainable industrial growth.
The session also explored how standardization plays a key role in advancing research, technology, and quality infrastructure, with special emphasis on its application in academia and the private sector. The event concluded with a highly interactive Question and Answer session, during which students demonstrated great interest and understanding of the Bureau’s work.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), TGSB sponsored the event by donating t-shirts, soft drinks, and bottled water to support the Science Students’ Association’s Science Week activities, reaffirming the Bureau’s commitment to promoting science education and fostering a culture of quality and excellence among students.
The Gambia Standards Bureau appreciates the invitation extended by the University of The Gambia Science Students’ Association and looks forward to continued collaboration in advancing scientific knowledge, innovation, and national development through standardization.
