REGIONAL ENGAGEMENT TO SOLICIT COMMENTS ON DRAFT GAMBIAN STANDARDS

The Bureau in collaboration with the West Africa Competitive Programme (WACOMP) developed a framework for the development of National Standards for Onion and its related value chain. This program is funded by the European Union (EU) and Under the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

The West Africa Competitive Programme (WACOMP) seeks to increase competitiveness through enhanced quality and compliance along the onion value chain, improve the performance, growth and contribution to industry, regional trade and exports of selected value chain and improve the climate for business at national and regional levels.

As part of the Bureau’s standard development procedures, in line with International Standards Development Procedures of ISO/IEC Guide 21-1-1 and WTO code of practice for standards development, the bureau is supposed to conduct nationwide public engagement meetings across all the regions to solicit comments from experts on the draft standards.

On this backdrop, TGSB engaged the technical staff/extension workers of the six regional agricultural directorates of the country to sensitize and solicit comments from stakeholders on the draft standards under development
